By making a gift to honor or remember a special person, you are also supporting the health and wellness of the entire Nantucket community.
Memorial gifts to remember a loved one or cherished friend are greatly appreciated. For those who treasured their time on Nantucket, these are especially meaningful gifts.
Many families choose to ask that charitable gifts be made in memory of their loved one in lieu of flowers. The online gift form provides a place to indicate who the gift remembers, or gifts can be mailed to Nantucket Cottage Hospital with a note that it is in memory of the individual.
Foundation staff can assist families in establishing memorial gifts and the appropriate language for an obituary. Or a family can include a simple statement in an obituary such as: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that be memorial gifts be made to Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Memorial gifts may be made online or sent to the NCH Foundation, 57 Prospect Street, Nantucket MA 02554.
Tributes – a gift in honor of someone – not only support the hospital, but often provide unexpected joy and recognition to the individual they honor. They may be gift in honor of a special occasion, to recognize extraordinary care, or to indicate your respect for a volunteer or caregiver.
We will notify the honoree(s) of your gift, and forward any special message that you would like to convey. We will notify the family or person you specify of memorial gifts, though we will not share the amount of the donations.
Please contact Foundation staff with any questions at (508) 825-8250.

What many are calling the next big thing in health care has already been happening at Nantucket Cottage Hospital for more than a decade. In 2003, the hospital started its “Tele Derm” program, which allows dermatologists in Boston to interact with patients on Nantucket in real time using cameras and video screens. The hospital partnered with Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after Nantucket administrators, including the late Jane Bonvini, former director of nursing, saw a need for the service.icon
Our History Learn about the history of our hospital
Nantucket Cottage Hospital was founded in 1911, conceived by the visions of Dr. John S. Grouard and Dr. Benjamin Sharp. The original small Cottage Hospital on West Chester Street grew apace with the island community’s needs. In 1957, the hospital opened new facilities at its current site, 57 Prospect Street.icon
