Vaccines are among the most important medical tools at our disposal to protect ourselves, our children and our community. They are safe, effective, and readily available at Nantucket Cottage Hospital. Immunizing yourself and your loved ones against vaccine-preventable diseases can keep you well, save your family time and money, but most importantly, it could save your child’s life and the lives of others who may be unable to receive vaccinations. At Nantucket Cottage Hospital, our family physicians and consulting pediatricians can explain the benefits of vaccinations, and get your child on the appropriate immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. Please contact your primary care physician for more information and to get your family members up date with their immunizations.
COVID-19 Booster Shots at NCH
Nantucket Cottage Hospital is now offering booster shots of Moderna and Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to those who meet the eligibility requirements below. Boosters are by appointment only and can be made online at https://covidvaccine.massgeneralbrigham.org/
At this time, the definition of fully vaccinated has not changed. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of either mRNA vaccine series (Pfizer or Moderna) or after the single dose of the J&J vaccine.
COVID-19 Vaccine for Children Over 5
Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine is now available to children over the age of 5, at no cost to the patient, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Nantucket Cottage Hospital will be offering pediatric COVID-19 vaccines from 2:00pm to 5:00pm every Monday beginning on the 15th of November, by appointment only.
Once a parent or guardian signs up their child for the first dose, they will automatically be signed up for a second dose three weeks later. Due to the limited availability of appointments, it is critical that patients understand that they must be available for both the first and second dose at the time of booking.
NCH Flu Vaccinations for the 2021-22 Season
Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever to protect yourself and the people around you from flu, and to help reduce the strain on healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Save time by getting your flu shot safely and conveniently at Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s Annual Flu Shot Clinic held at the Anderson Building at 57 Prospect Street, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Appointments are required. Sign up begins on Monday, September 27th and can be done online through Mass General Brigham Patient Gateway, or by calling (508) 825-1000.
Every year, seasonal flu vaccines help keep our community safe by providing protection against the most common strains of influenza. Most insurances cover the complete cost of the flu shot every year, requiring no co-pay for patients.
