Personal

Upon completion of his medical residency at Wake Forest University, Dr. Secan moved to Massachusetts to complete a clinical research fellowship and a Masters of Public Health at Harvard in 2001.

After more than a decade of building hospitalist programs on the mainland along with developing medical software that improved physician practices, Dr. Secan became the Medical Director of the new hospitalist program at Nantucket Cottage Hospital in 2015.

“I truly enjoy the unique opportunity that practicing medicine on island provides. From day one, it has felt like the perfect professional home and I hope to practice medicine here until the day I retire. Luckily, my family fell in love with Nantucket from the first summer we stepped ashore. As we’ve put down roots on island, my professional ties to Nantucket have solidified. My goal is to continue to provide the highest quality medical care in this idyllic island setting.”

Dr. Secan enjoys running, going to the beach, and spending time with good friends that he's made in his years on island.
