Jim’s first experience with Swim Across America was in 1994 when, as a competitive youth swimmer on Nantucket, he took part in an Olympic Swim Clinic put on by the organization before their swim from Nantucket to Hyannis.

“It is important for me to know that my family will have the quality healthcare they’ll need in the future. More than a hundred years ago when our hospital was founded, islanders felt the same way – Nantucket Cottage Hospital is an island essential.”

– Liz Winship, owner, Nantucket Looms

“You never know when you will need medical care. When Bob became critically ill with a life-threatening infection, all of the hospital’s efforts worked in sync to save his life and return him to health. Life happens when you’re planning something else. Investing in the new facility is investing in your health, your future.”

One will find volunteers working throughout the hospital in both clinical and administrative areas and their length of service spans several months to decades. (more…)
