Nantucket Cottage Hospital held its 104^th Annual Meeting this morning and welcomed new members to its Board of Trustees and Advisory Council, thanked outgoing members for their service, and honored its volunteers and leaders.

Trustee Kevin Hickey was elected as the Board’s new chairman, taking the reins from outgoing chairman Michael A. F. Roberts, and Trustee Jack Burke was elected vice chairman. In addition two new members, Cathy Ward and Robert L. Reynolds, were elected to the Board.

In recognition of their longtime service to Nantucket Cottage Hospital, Stephen Anderson and Margaretta Andrews were elected as Honorary Trustees, joining Charles Balas in that role on the Board. (more…)

He did it! Grant Wentworth completed a solo swim from Cape Cod to Nantucket in 12 hours, 54 seconds. In the process, Grant raised over $150,000 for Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s cancer care program through the Swim Across America charitable organization.

After setting out from Cape Cod at 4:25 a.m., Grant arrived on Nantucket just over 12 hours later, coming ashore at Great Point to a crowd of family, friends, and well-wishers.  (more…)

Nantucket Cottage Hospital was lucky to count Mrs. Constance C. Larsen among its many friends and supporters.

Known to all simply as “Bonnee,” she spent her summers on the island, and used her considerable energy and talent to benefit NCH, volunteering again and again for the hospital right up until her passing on March 27, 2015. (more…)

Nantucket Cottage Hospital lost one of its champions earlier this year with the passing of William “Bill” Hays III.

Bill served on the NCH Board of Trustees for more than 20 years, was a founding member of the NCH Advisory Council and the Patient & Family Advisory Council. He was also as a strong advocate for the new hospital, serving as a neighborhood captain on the community outreach team until his death on February 25, 2015 at the age of 84.  (more…)

Jenny Paradis is a former Age Group, High School, and Collegiate swimmer who made her home on Nantucket after graduating from Vanderbilt University in 1982. Joining the Swim Across America “family” in 1993 as a land volunteer in Nantucket and continuing as a swimmer in SAA’s Boston Harbor event for many years, Jenny was thrilled to play a part in bringing SAA back to Nantucket in 2012 to support cancer care on the island. She is currently the Fundraising Chair for Swim Across America – Nantucket.  (more…)
