Nantucket Cottage Hospital Expanding Services with Manning & Associates Physical Therapy Transition

June 12, 2024 – Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) is significantly expanding its physical therapy services, after agreeing to transition Manning & Associates Physical Therapy into its rehabilitation services department on July 8.

Manning & Associates owner, Joseph Manning, has been in communication with hospital leadership this past year about integrating his practice into the hospital’s current programs.

“We were obviously very familiar with the high-quality care Joe and his team provide – many of his patients are ours as well – so we saw it as an important opportunity to ensure that our island community will continue to have access to these excellent physical therapists,” said Nantucket Cottage Hospital president and chief operating officer Amy Lee. “We are committed to ensuring the island has the services the community needs, and also that there will be a seamless transition as they continue their care.” (more…)

NCH Awards $60,000 in Beinecke Scholarships

Amy Lee, NCH President, is joined by the Beinecke family’s Ann Oliver, Barb Spitler and Deborah Beale, together with recipients of the 2024 scholarship

June 10, 2024 – Nantucket Cottage Hospital is pleased to award 34 Beinecke Scholarships totaling $60,000 to island students, Nantucket residents, and hospital staff who are pursuing education and training in medical and healthcare fields.

Open to graduates of Nantucket High School and employees of Nantucket Cottage Hospital, this special fund was created by the late Nantucket businessman and civic leader Walter Beinecke, Jr. in the 1950s.

The eligibility of applicants and scholarship recipients are considered by an independent ad hoc committee consisting of NCH and community leaders.

Beinecke, the man who founded Sherburne Associates and is credited with transforming Nantucket into a modern destination resort town, was a life member of Nantucket Cottage Hospital’s Board of Trustees. The Beinecke Scholarship Fund’s origins date back to the early 1950s when his father, Walter Beinecke, Sr., made annual gifts through the hospital to Nantucket High School graduates to help them pay for nursing school. After his father’s death in 1958, Walter Beinecke, Jr. formally established the scholarship fund in his memory. Over the years, Nantucket Cottage Hospital has used the scholarship fund to assist several hundred island students further their education.
