Nantucket Cottage Hospital is aware of the new state mandate requiring influenza vaccination for students before Dec. 31, 2020.
At this time, the hospital has not yet received its allocation of flu shots for the community but we expect to receive it over the next few weeks. We are actively planning our annual flu shot clinics for patients and will be working closely with the Nantucket Public Schools and the Town of Nantucket Health Department to expand access and availability this fall. We will announce the dates of our annual flu shot clinics and all other immunization initiatives as soon as possible on our web site, social media platforms, and through the local newspapers and radio stations. There will be ample time and opportunities for all students to receive their immunization. (more…)
Since we are both employees of Nantucket Cottage Hospital, we’ve always heard about the exceptional care our hospital provides but we feel grateful to have experienced that ourselves recently with the birth of our daughter on August 11th.
When COVID became a reality at the beginning of my pregnancy, we knew we were lucky to call Nantucket home. Despite ever-changing pandemic guidelines and policies that emerged nationally and locally, we never felt anything but kindness, comfort and confidence from NCH staff. We were kept well educated about the virus and how to keep ourselves safe before and after delivery, calming our nerves by giving us all the information we needed. Behind all the masks and face shields, we were always reassured that our health and safety was top priority. Plus, NCH never lost any of its charm or personality despite the extra restrictions.
Being pregnant during a pandemic certainly had its challenges but we are forever grateful that our colleagues and friends at NCH were the ones to take care of us. We can’t thank everyone enough for giving us the experience of a lifetime.
